BIBLICAL WORDS OF WISDOM

The king said to Daniel, “Truly, your God is God of gods and Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, for you have been able to reveal this mystery!” – Daniel 2:47

In this story, a certain king Nebuchadnezzar was troubled by a dream. All of his wise men, enchanters, magicians, and diviners couldn’t tell what his dream was or interpret it. Only Daniel was able to with the help of the Lord. Sadly, after everything was conveyed to the king, in his own understanding he decided to build a golden statue and commanded all of the people to worship and bow down to it. Now, if the meaning of our dream is revealed to us, are we going to act like king Nebuchadnezzar by putting our faith in objects rather than the living God? Centuries before Daniel, a Pharaoh was also troubled by a dream sought help and Joseph was able to interpret it with God’s guidance (Genesis 41). (Notice we are stressing with God’s guidance Christians are always to go to God and not to psychics). The Pharaoh placed his trust in God’s wisdom and nations were able to survive seven years of famine! Knowing the mystery of a dream is of value but it is meaningless and foolish if we don’t seek the counsel of the Lord. What’s truly important is that we continually rely upon God’s wisdom and not our own understanding.

Today’s Prayer
Heavenly Father, we humbly ask for You to guide our thoughts and ways. Give us Your wisdom and understanding so that we will not be foolish in our undertakings. We lift up everything into Your hands. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
